Youth Commission

The Monte Sereno Youth Commission is comprised of up to fifteen (15) members, who serve a one (1) year term. The Commission is selectively appointed by the Monte Sereno City Council in May/June of each year. All members of the Youth Commission must be residents of Monte Sereno and enrolled in or entering grades eight (8) through twelve (12) in the next school year. Youth Commission meetings are open to the public and are held regularly on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Monte Sereno Council Chambers.

Some of the Youth Commission's accomplishments in recent years, among many projects, include developing a "Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25" Campaign to encourage drivers to obey the speed limit on residential streets; co-authoring an ordinance to ban smoking on City property; co-organizing a hygiene kit drive for 67 students in need; and co-hosting the Annual City Picnic. Youth Commissioners also frequently volunteer at local organizations, such as Loaves and Fishes (a food kitchen) and Village Harvest (picking fruit for food banks).
