The City Council annually appoints members to serve on the various City Commissions and Committees. In most cases, to qualify for a Commission appointment, prospective members must be a Monte Sereno resident and registered voter. The City Council may also periodically appoint Ad Hoc Committees. These Committees are appointed for a specific purpose and have a specific termination date. These Committee can be comprised of up to two City Council members and/or registered voters who reside in the City. In addition, the City Council annually appoints individual members of the Council to serve on various regional boards and commissions to represent the City on regional issues. The City Council requires that all Commission and Committees provide a periodic report to City Council and public at a regularly scheduled City Council meeting. Currently, there are three active commissions: Better Streets Commission, Site and Architectural Commission, and Youth Commission.
