[ARCHIVED] Community Wildfire Preparedness Webinars

The Santa Clara County Fire Department will be hosting three free wildfire preparedness webinars. The three topics to choose from are "Home Insurance: Roadmap to Preparedness," "Zonehaven: Know Your Zone," and "Home Ignition Zone."

Home Insurance: Roadmap to Preparedness

May 3 or May 17, 6:30 - 8:00 pm

This webinar is presented in partnership with United Policyholders. Attendees will learn what consumers should know before and after a disaster, home insurance coverage and policy limits, understanding the fine print, what to do if you are "dropped" by your insurer, and how to save money in these unprecedented times.

Zonehaven: Know Your Zone

April 26 or May 12, 6:30 - 7:30 pm

In the event of a wildfire or public safety emergency, fire department and law enforcement agencies will issue evacuation orders and other protective actions for impacted areas. Zonehaven is a web-based platform that provides real-time evacuation updates. Attendees will learn about the Zonehaven, alerting and notifications, how to evacuate safely, and standardized evacuation terminology.

Home Ignition Zone

April 28 or May 10, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Breakthrough research has shown that most homes destroyed by wildfire are first ignited by embers and small flames. Attendees will learn how to take steps to harden their Home Ignition Zone to better protect it from the threat of wildfire. The area closest to the home, the Immediate Zone (0' to 5'), is the area must vulnerable to embers and radiant heat.
